A beginning intermediate English student is one who can work around through the language, getting the main ideas clearly, confidently, though he or she can't understand English completely.
By him or herself, an intermediate Business English student should already do things, such as reading specialised journals, emailing, speaking on the phone, listening to a report, or travelling.

- understand more than the main ideas of complex text
- get the meaning from concrete and abstract topics, specially technical discussions in his or her field of specialisation
- interact spontaneously with native speakers
- be able to explain a viewpoint on a topical issue using assertive grammar and a range of topical vocabulary
